It used to be great but now it crashes everytime I open it. Is it related to El Capitan update ? Please do something !

Thanks for the bug fix.
Really the best choice for podcast playing on ones Mac. I also have the iOS version as well and iCloud syncing works great between all of them.
Works great, syncs with iphone. No need to change to Instacast now ;-) downcast for iphone and OSX does all I need. Good value for money. I have also found their support very timely. (I am just a regular customer with no connection whatsoever to Downcast)
This is what Apples Podcast APP should have been. I can listen to a podcast on my iPHone on the road, then sit down at my Mac and continue where I left of without having to manually sync anything. It just works. Keep up the good work!
Ive been using Downcast across all iOS devices and love it so when it appeared on the App Store, I got it right away. All features work as you expect - including the iCloud sync which made bringing over my settings and playlists effortless. What I would improve is giving this app a standard OS X minimize keyboard shortcut (command-m not working) as well as a small player option like iTunes has. Keep up the good work!
Im extremely happy with the desktop version of Downcast. Everything syncs perfectly and although there are still some minor bugs to be fixed, the developer seems to be very hard at work to get everything done fast. All the goodies that the IOS version have is in the desktop version. And its much easier to get everything organized on the computer. Couldnt be happier!
Decided to try out all the versions of Downcast when they recently went on sale. The mobile version is fairly polished and I can see why people rate it so highly. The desk top version, well, not so much. The current version is buggy, crashes or locks up frequently and the sync with the mobile versions needs lots of work. The biggest problem is that when Downcast refreshs the podcast list while it is playing a podcast it locks up and becomes completely unresponsive forcing me to use the Force Quit to turn it off. This is a serious problem and renders the application unusable. I paid $9.99 in the sale and right now I consider that to be $20.00 too much. Ill be going back to iTunes to manage my podcasts.
Ive been a user of Downcast on my iPhone for over a year. The desktop app is not worth the $10 in its current form. +++ BUGS +++ iCloud syncing does not work well. • Upon launching the app for the first time, old played episodes were synced and downloaded. • iCloud sync does not appear to sync episode played positions. With long podcasts this feature is absolutely necessary. +++ UI +++ The user interface feels kludgy. It does not seem like much attention has been given to optimizing the interface for desktops. Additionally, it would be nice if the app could utilize Apple keyboard native pause/play button. And a menubar icon wouldnt be bad either. For now. Dont buy it, its not worth the money. But Im confident it will get better.
I’ve used several podcatching clients before, but none compare to DownCast. iTunes podcatching feature is a joke, and the one I was using before had weird AirPlay issues. Enter DownCast, the one podcatching client to rule them all. It seamlessly syncs with it’s IOS counterpart through iCloud, and now I can listen to my favourite podcasts whether I’m on my Mac, my iPhone, or my iPad. You may look at the price and think that it is a little much, but it’s not. One thing that I appriciate is the developer’s commitment to making DownCast for both platforms accessible for those of us using VoiceOver on OS X and IOS. Tell your friends about DonCast, and go grab a copy for your self if you don’t have it already.
The app still locks constantly, requiring a force restart, and still fails to sync properly with the iPhone version. Often it uses more than 2 gigabytes of available ram on my system. Honestly, this app shouldn’t have been released in its current state.
Since I bought it in August, it worked without crashing roughly half the time. I’m patient with all this transition to 10.10 and iCloud Drive, but even then it’s difficult to get it in a working condition.
Unfortunately the latest version of this app no longer syncs correctly with iCloud, which makes it pretty much useless. The iOS version is still my preferred app for playing audio podcasts, but they really need to fix the OS X version.
1.1.1 seems to have fixed many of the issues from the previous version. Downcast is once again my go-to podcast app.
I use the iOS version of this application and it is fantastic. Unfortunately as soon as I downloaded and turned on the iCloud syncing feature in the Mac version, it proceeded to delete all of the playlists that I had setup on the iOS version.
I only have this because the iOS version is so good that its my only podcast app. I use this because of that, but $10 is rediculous given this unstable and unfinished app. Cant sync (thats a BIG issue), cant reduce the app into a mini player like itunes. Please make an update, because those who come to this version before the iOS will never give that (much better) version a try.
My bad for not recognizing that “syncs episode INFORMATION” could be interpreted to mean everything except the episode (i.e., media file) itself, which is exactly what does mean. So if you’ve got podcasts on your Mac that are no longer on the feed, those episodes can’t be synced to your iOS device so you can listen to them on the go. Also doesn’t recognize that media files a new user imports are the same as the ones in the feed. The search continues. Wouldn’t it be funny if it turns out that Apple’s own Podcasts app, for all its flaws, is actually the best?
Should have been more careful, pictured this magically syncing with my iPhone, but it doesn’t without somehow going through icloud, which I wasn’t willing to turn on just for podcasts. The iOS app is so good it bugged me that I didn’t have it on my computer. Would be good if the developer or apple would make it possible for this to sync episodes and play positions when both my computer and my iPhone are connected to the same wifi.
AMAZING! It’s come a long way!
I’ve been using Downcast for about 2 years - since OS 10.10 I have sporadic crashes - worst part is once it starts crashing it will relaunch go for a bit, and crash again. Difficult to use when this is happening. Its been happening since the last several versions of Downcast software, and last few versions of OSX. Great when it works, has syncing so all my playlists and podcasts are the same across all devices. But - Downcast is no longer the only player that does this, hasn’t been for awhile. If stability doesn’t improve, then its not worth going with this app when there are others to choose from. Hoping there’s a fix soon.
